TDD is GTD

Blaine commented yesterday:
You know, test-driven development is very GTD. I just write the tests, and then when I try to check it in, I get all of these errors. They're like tasks, in context, and I just go boom boom boom and I'm done with the feature!
Hear that, Rabble?

New Odeo Office

From Upstairs Noah and Ev scored a sweet new office space on the south side of South Park!

It has many improvements over our current space, including:
  • More than one room
  • More than one floor
  • Garage-style access in back
  • Receptionist area (as if!)
  • Heating
  • Skylights
  • Sidebar-green decor
  • Wooden rafters
  • Private roof
  • Nice kitchen
  • One block closer to home
It won't be a very big move, but it's a big step up!

Nickel Creek - Smoothie Song (live)

Captured Nickel Creek on video last night at The Warfield:

Groovin' to that track? Take the MP3 with you!

I've been looking forward to this show for months. It did not disappoint!
Andrew Bird opened up, using one of those looping machines expertly.

Got to get me one of those.

How I Make It By

These days, I play piano.

RSS fu

The folks over at GMail finally saw fit to grace my account with RSS:

Gmail RSS

Mer's had it for a while, oh the jealousy.

Now, I'm good - I can check out my own feed at the top of my Gmail.
It's not vanity surfing - it's QA, people!

How I Get Things Done

Quicksilver The King of Productivity, Merlin Mann came by Odeo to talk about Quicksilver (love it) and other tricks of his trade. He asked me, "What do you use for your lists?" I replied, my Treo.
Hunh?
Well, whenever I have a task or a thought I need to file, I whip out the Treo and go straight to the calendar. I find a time to complete that task or follow up on the thought. If I really need to Get It Done, I'll set up a reminder.

Then, when I sync to my machine, .Mac picks it up, and viola, my thought is everywhere in the Hundred Worlds (my vast network of laptops, towers, and devices). If I haven't completed the task or pushed it off in time, one of the little brothers reminds me. And I can always search for ideas using iCal.

It's not flawless, but it works, and I don't need to carry a laptop everywhere.

Me and My Nano

Jack asked me today, "So, do you like your nano?" Heck yeah! I'm listening to Speaker for the Dead on it right now. I can't put it down.

When I'm just groovin' to tunes (like on my bike), it's about as good as my Shuffle, 'cept I don't have a fancy lanyard or waterproof case. But when I'm listening to audiobooks or Odeos, it's all about the nano: the titles, the chapter headings, the form factor.

Something else I just discovered: it comes with a USB charge/sync cable. At the office, we had a Firewire cable that fits the same port. So, I plugged it in:
FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB cable provided. Click Center to dismiss.
When I dismiss, it doesn't connect, but it continues to charge, which is cool, cause that's all I really wanted to do anyway!

Where Art Thou Stats?

dom.net stats, dead Dear Google Analytics,

It is uncool that your stats have been down since 9am Saturday.

And please bring back the Site Overlay. You are starting to bum me out.
